The paper airplane contest was a great success, and all enjoyed the snacks the Care Ministry Team provided!
Folks started by making and decorating their airplane. Then they were given time to test them and make changes. After testing, it was time to compete. Eighteen people entered their plane in the contest. Everyone that participated did a great job.
Our first-place winner is Colin Bailey.
Colin's plane flew 48 feet!
Our second-place winner is Jeremy Neta. Jeremy's plane few 41 feet!
Our third-place winner is Katelyn Marquardt. Katelyn's plane flew 36 feet!

Update

Following the Palm Sunday Worship Service, 9 am on April 2, youth are encouraged to join the Easter Egg Hunt on First American Lutheran's church grounds. Our Jr & Sr High Youth Group (gr. 7-12) is hosting the Easter Egg Hunt.

Our Worship Ministry Team is meeting on Tuesday, April 4, at 6:00 pm at First American Lutheran. You don't have to be on the Team to join; all are welcome.
Our Worship Team helps coordinate worship services and work the Church Office Manager and Musician to add special music, worship environments, and themes.

On Good Friday, April 7, we will return to worship in silence, listen to the solemn reproaches, hear the last seven words of Christ, witness Christ's light of hope in the darkness, and depart in silence. Good Friday worship will begin at Noon at First American Lutheran.
On Maundy Thursday communion will be served representing the Last Supper of our Lord, therefore, communion will not be served again until Easter.

Youth in Confirmation have the opportunity to join a basketball fellowship at the Oconto Middle School on Wednesday, April 12, 4:45-5:45 pm. Youth interested should use the Google Doc sign-up. We will meet at the Church at 4:45 pm and then walk over to the school.

Homebound members of First American will receive home communion on April 2, following worship. If you or someone you know would like to be added to the list, please reach out to the church office by Thursday, March 30.

Confirmation Youth will be tying blankets for Project Linus and the April Auction on Wednesday, April 5, 5 pm-6 pm. Youth who are interested in attending, please use the Google Doc sign-up. We anticipate this will be the last time the group will be meeting for blanket tying. Youth who attend the entire time will receive one service credit.

On March 27, our Youth Group is getting together to fill a bunch of Easter eggs for an upcoming Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 2. In order for the egg hunt to happen youth are needed to fill the eggs. If you are in 7th-12th grade, please reach out to our Youth Leaders, Kirsten and Heidi, if you're able to help. Confirmation Youth are welcome to sign up using the Google Doc sign-up.

Our Sewing Ministry is meeting on Monday, April 3, from 9 am until Noon. The group works hard throughout the year to make quilts which are shipped all around the world to our sisters and brothers in need.
If you're interested in helping the group out, but can't make it to the meeting, you are welcome to make quilt tops at home. Quilt tops should measure 60" x 80"; squares or shapes can be any size as long as the quilt top is measures to the dimensions indicated.
Quilts are displayed in our Worship Space in the Fall months.

The April Auction is back, and we can't wait for you to join us on Saturday, April 22! Recently donation letters were prepared and are getting ready for mailing. If you would like to provide an item for the auction, a gift card, or monetary donation, please contact the Church Office. Your name will be added in the auction donor booklet.

The Souper Bowl of Caring was a great success! Thank you to all of the youth and adults who participated. Together, we are working to stop hunger in our community.
A total of $374 was collected in monetary donations, and 158 items of food were collected (77 food items collected from our youth and 81 food items collected from the adults).
All donations will be given to our local food pantry, Bread by the Bay, to help them continue their ministry of helping our sisters and brothers in need.

Thank you to all who ordered Easter flowers to help make our worship space more beautiful for our Easter worship services. A mixture of lilies and other Easter flowers of various colors has been ordered. We plan to have them on display for both Easter services (7 am & 9 am). After the services, you are encouraged to bring your purchased plant home.

Effective, February 2023, the TIE Newsletter is phasing out. The newsletter was previously phased out pre-covid time, but came back temporarily while covid restrictions were in place.
We now hand out a paper announcement on Sundays.
The monthly calendar, assistant schedules, and council notes will be emailed monthly to those who received the newsletter electronically. Paper copies will be available in the narthex for those not on the email list.
Homebound members will continue to receive paper copies of the documents.

Thrivent members, please remember First American Lutheran Church as you designate your choice dollars. FALC uses the funds for a variety of projects around the church (some examples are: the upkeep of the church and major repairs). We appreciate all you do!

Join us for Palm Sunday Worship on April 2, 9 am. Palms will be processed in and blessed, and we will be folding our palm branches into crosses. Following worship, an Easter Egg Hunt for the younger kids will be held. It's going to be a big day filled with lots of excitement!

Our Stewardship Team is meeting on Tuesday, April 4, at 5:30 pm at First American Lutheran. You don't have to be on the Team to join; all are welcome. Our Stewardship Team works to enable us as stewards to increase our spiritual growth by using our time, talents, and treasures as God has provided. They work to plan church outings, help bring awareness to our finances, and to strengthen and energize our ministry at First American Lutheran.

The Great Liturgy of the Three Days begins on Maundy Thursday, April 6. We will hold worship at First American Lutheran at 6 pm. The service will include Holy Communion and stripping of the altar, and folks will depart in silence.

The congregation elected the following people to positions of leadership on our Church Council: Richard Jacquart-President, John Matravers-Vice-President, Barb Gallagher-Secretary, and these Council Members at Large: Lisa Anderson, Cindy Evans, Paula Moe, Ophelia Neta, Tom Scheffen, Rodney Trepanier, and Jimmy Viestenz. They were officially installed on February 12, 2023.

Our Care Ministry Team is meeting on Tuesday, April 11, at 6:30 pm at First American Lutheran. You don't have to be on the Team to join; all are welcome.
Our Care Team helps to fulfill God's mission of care and love supporting our Church Family and reaching out to those in the community. Activities include welcoming visitors, sending cards to members, facilitate the church brochure and directory, sponsor Confirmation Students, and arrange baptismal baskets.
