Christian Formation

First American Lutheran Church has many opportunities to enhance your personal learning from High Five to Adult Faith Formation.  Please visit the specific pages below to learn more about some of our exciting educational opportunities.

 High Five

High Five is our religious education program for children ages 3 through 6th grade.  Wednesday evenings during the months of September – May.  At 5:20 pm a meal is served for children and parents and at 5:50 pm children head to their classes.  Class time includes: Bible stories, songs and crafts.  Classes finish up at 6:50 pm allowing the children and their parents to attend the Wednesday evening Chapel service.  Chapel service is a less formal worship service and lasts about 40 minutes.

 Confirmation Program


At First American Confirmation classes consist of a three year program. Confirmation students in seventh & eighth grade meet weekly on Wednesdays in September- May from 5:50-6:50 pm.

Seventh grade students study the Old and New Testament and the eighth grade classes study the Small Catechism (The Lord’s Prayer, The Ten Commandments, The Apostles’ Creed, Sacraments).

Ninth grade students meet once a month, generally on Sundays.  The focus of the ninth grade year is – Lutheran identity, relationship building, review of the basics!  Students affirm their baptism through the Rite of Confirmation at the end of the ninth grade year.


Vacation Bible School (VBS)


Vacation Bible School was held this year at First American Lutheran Church on Monday, June 8th and ending on Friday, June 12th.  First American Lutheran has partnered with First Presbyterian for hosting VBS.  VBS is available to children from Pre-K through 5th grade.  Youth in grades 6th through 12th are invited to attend VBS as helpers in classrooms, with games, crafts, snacks, etc.

S.H.Y. Senior High Youth

Fellowship, fun, fulfillment, and friendship for all high school aged youth.  Every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. during the months of September thru May with some additional activities that are held through the summer.  You never know when we’ll go out for PIE or ICE CREAM!


Adult Faith Formation

Opportunities for adults to further their religious education are offered at various times throughout the year. Men’s Bible Study is held at 6:30 pm on the first Monday of each month during September through May.
